Wallace R. Nichols, JD, MBA
President, W.R. Nichols Law
Wallace R. Nichols is a distinguished attorney based in Atlanta, Georgia with offices also in Phoenix, Arizona. His firm, W.R. Nichols Law, focuses on strategic wealth transfer planning so clients of all ages keep and protect themselves and their descendants from creditors and predators. These strategies range from entrepreneurial protection, to Children’s Protection Planning for young families, to Estate Planning and Strategic Wealth Transfers for middle-aged folks, to end of life and long-term care planning for Elders. Nichols designs strategies to preserve wealth, protect from claims, or help Elders qualify for VA Pension Planning or Medicaid while still providing for a family legacy.
As he tells it, Nichols’ decision to go into law was a natural one.
I decided to become a lawyer when I was nine years old. That year, 1968, was a horrifically bloody year. My brother had just survived the bloodiest Thet Offensive of the Viet Nam war. I was hospitalized with scarlet fever the night Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., was assassinated in Memphis, TN. I relapsed into nephritis when Senator Robert F. Kennedy was assassinated in Los Angeles, CA. The Democratic National Convention in Chicago later that year was fraught with protest, riots, and blood. Then, Christmas Eve 1968 the first men orbited the moon and we saw this lonely blue marble floating in blackness of space. I realized that courage and leadership in the face of cowardice and bloody retaliation could bring needed change. But, fundamental change occurs through the legal system. So, I decided I would become a lawyer.
Nichols’ trial experience includes trust and probate issues, fraud and fiduciary litigation, Elder Law issues, and select civil rights cases.
Also a licensed financial advisor, Nichols advises clients on a wide range of financial investment choices to complement their legal estate planning, utilizing his financial planning firm, Asset Guidance Group, LLC. The result: clients see their estate as a holistic blend of interlocking financial and legal elements, experiencing increased privacy by using a single, consummate professional.
My boutique office addresses the needs of Baby Boomers who are turning 65 years of age at rates exceeding 9,000/day. I design customized strategic decumulation strategies so Boomers do not outlive their money. Longevity driven by rapidly advancing technology is the new pressing challenge of our age. For the first time in American history, two generations of a family can be simultaneously institutionalized in skilled nursing or assisted-living facilities. This happened in my own family, prompting me to author an introductory book on the topic: “Pack a Sweater!: Preparing Boomers for Long Term Care.”
